Doesn't come better than this.
I can say without a shadow of a doubt this is the most friendly and welcoming hotel I have ever had the pleasure to stay at. The proprietors Barbara and Billy are outstanding hosts along with every other member of their staff for whom nothing was to much trouble. The hotel is kept in immaculate condition and the rooms are spotless. I unfortunately experienced an attack of sciatica whilst I was there and Billy went out of his way with practical advice whilst arranging for my transport to the local doctors. Barbara the following day was good enough to drive me down to the pharmacy. A great place to unwind, no early morning rush for the sunbeds, and a pleasant 20 minute stroll down into the village of Skala itself. If you are looking to unwind then this is a must for you.
Perfect Holiday
A lovely relaxing 2 week holiday at the Pelagos Bay Hotel earlier this month. It was just amazing having an early swim in the stunning & safe cove across the road before breakfast every morning - such clear water, thousands of fish and a lovely warm 24 degrees (approx). Perfect for both open water swimmers to swim down the coast and back, snorkellers and dippers alike. The hotel has plenty of snorkels & beach shoes to borrow if needed. My husband has mobility issues but got down & back up the path with no problems using his walking poles. I really enjoyed the fresh crusty bread (white/granary) with butter & local honey or different tasty jams for breakfast after my swim, as well as a pot of tea & sometimes the chocolate cereal. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the grounds absolutely stunning - the jasmine by our room was so fragrant. The 22m pool is fabulous - very quiet a lot of the time so you could swim lengths, play basketball at the end or just cool down. Plenty of inflatables available & a child's pool cordoned off by railings. Plenty of sunbeds available all day or you could sit in the bar area. The food at the hotel was amazing - we like to try local food and it didn't disappoint! My favourites were the selection of salads. Having read previous reviews & emailing the hotel prior to coming, we knew the hotel preferred cash & we'd need to pay cash upfront for Greek tourist tax, air-con (100€ for 2 weeks and well worth it) & safe, but do be aware of that. The room was spacious with a fridge and also a huge balcony overlooking the sea - with table, chairs, clothes airer & pegs. The nearest cash machine was at the bigger supermarket on the way to Skala. The walk to Skala and back was fine - took longer in the heat though. The taxi was good value at 6€.
All in all a really lovely holiday made all the nicer by such hardworking owners Billy & Barbara and all of their equally hardworking lovely staff - Yiannis, Nicky, Rita, Bledi and Billy's Mum, sister & niece who worked so hard behind the scenes. Thank you so much. We really loved the animals - really well looked after. Particularly loved the tortoises at feeding time racing each other for their lettuce & melon!
The warmest of welcomes
Always a pleasure staying here, such a friendly welcome. Nice clean rooms and pool, delicious food served throughout the day. We took out a SUP while we were there and took it out on the calm, clear waters of the Ionion. Great memories made again.
Everything we needed in a holiday!
My 11 year old daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at the Pelagos Bay in July 2023.
From the second we arrived until we left we had the best time. The facilities are excellent, huge deep pool, giant chess, pool table, private beach with hirable paddle boards, kayaker and all the food you can eat on site! Couldn't ask for more. I had a stomach bug and the whole team looked after my daughter making sure she was fed and safe while I recovered in my room. Honestly, I really appreciated the care from them all. Can't recommend highly enough, booking for next year asap.
We have the best holiday memories and got the well needed break we needed!
A perfect family holiday
This year we have been lucky to have three separate weeks holiday at this Hotel. Each week was superb, the hotel is clean, homemade food that is delicious, pool, private cove & is well managed by a family who have a passion for their guests.
Amazing!
Spent a week at the Pelagos Bay on the outskirts of Scala. What a fantastic hotel. Wonderful hospitality from the owners Billy & Barbara. And the lovely staff. Yannis looks after the bar in the evenings & and is the perfect host. Always full of fun, and nothing is too much trouble for him. The grounds & pool area are kept immaculate by the friendly groundsman.
The place is kept impeccably clean at all times. There is a wonderful swimming pool, with views to the ocean. And across the road is the most delightful cove, with crystal clear water.
Always plenty of sun loungers & parasols on hand at the pool.
Billy has rescue animals, which include tortoises around the pool, along with Donkeys, goats, geese, chicken & a cockerel. He has a heart of gold, & has a wonderful caring personality. Also, a bit of a comedian!
In summary, the Pelagos Bay & its lovely people are without fault. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay. We will be back! Harvey & Janette Sykes.
Lovely laid back holiday
Just had an amazing stay at this lovely hotel. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home, welcome & relaxed. Spotlessly clean, spacious comfortable rooms with balcony & spectacular sea views. Lovely staff. Will return very soon.
Wonderful family-run seaside hotel
Just realised to my embarrassment that I never got round to reviewing this wonderful hotel after we stayed last August! The plaudits heaped on it by others are entirely justified: Billy and Barbara and their team run a wonderfully welcoming hotel. Spotlessly clean, a wonderful pool, the seaside two minutes' walk away. As for the food, about which they are ridiculously modest: a great mix of local, English and international cuisine. The best falafel in the world - check. Yummy stuffed vine leaves - check. Outstanding pizza and burgers - check. Egg 'n' chips better than any UK transport caff's - check. Not surprised that many visitors return year after year - I hope that one day not too far off we may return, too.
Can't wait to return next year
It was the first time we'd been to Kefalonia and after touring this beautiful island we were pleased that we'd picked Skala as our base ... and even more so that we stayed at Pelagos Bay Hotel. There was a warm welcome from the moment we arrived and it was clear that many of the people staying there had been coming back year after year. Why do people do that when there are are so many other places in the world to visit? Couldn't imagine doing that myself ... except me and my wife are booked to stay there again in May 2023, but this time for two weeks rather than just one ... and I just can't wait.
Love love love this place - 3rd visit.
Wonderful friendly family run hotel - just perfect. This was our 3rd visit - Billy Barbara and Yannis greeted us as old friends. The addition of the animal sanctuary was a welcome treat, as was the stand up paddle boarding in the beautiful cove opposite the hotel. It seemed like everyone there had visited before - which speaks volumes as to its appeal.
Rooms are large and spotless. AC is amazing. Views are stunning. Perfect cove for snorkelling.
